About Us

Our History

Clicks and Links was founded in 2000 by Vin Sumner, the former Business Development Director at Sema Group and Head of E-Government at First Software. We have quickly established ourselves as a reliable partner in delivering business ICT services and solutions in an effective and innovative way. Our client base speaks volumes.  We have clients from a variety of sectors and industries and we have successfully delivered many assignments and solutions to the highest of standards.

We began by offering bespoke web-based solutions based on the OpenCms platform which led us to develop a number of websites for Local Authorities and Community Groups.  Developing web-based solutions became a main focus of our business.  In addition, we offered innovative ICT consultancy for the public sector and community groups.

In 2003, Clicks and Links had grown to become a company of twelve people and we were working on three major websites, one for a Local Authority and two community groups.

In 2007, Clicks and Links success was underpinned when we became a Government Gateway Alliance Partner which is a public sector accreditation by DWP's E-Delivery Team for trusted partners.  In addition, we became one of eighteen approved companies on the Department for Work and Pensions' Pygmalion Framework for specialist suppliers through our Network 21 Consortium.  2007 also saw us as the Principal Consultants for the Manchester City Council-led ONE-Manchester partnership which was formed in response to the UK Government's Digital Challenge competition to find an inclusive and digital city.

In 2008, we formed a joint venture called Second Places with Fusion United Ltd who are based in Aberdeen.  Second Places can deliver virtual worlds, limited by only the imagination, on a number of Internet based platforms including the most recognised Second Life system.  In only a short space of time, this venture has grown to become a market leader which is evident by a number of recent awards.

Our Present

Today, we are working on a range of long term programmes and projects. Some of these include:

  • The EU Funded Digital Environment Home Energy Management System (DEHEMS) where we are providing programme management and evaluation and dissemination services for this leading ICT environmental programme. See www.dehems.eu for more information, and click here for a short video on the 'Save your Energy' installation of DEHEMS kit into the Birmingham Living Lab area.

  • The Connected Neighbourhoods Forum (CNF) which is a cross sector forum for stakeholders to discuss and produce strategies and to generate ideas, solutions and products which support the concept of connecting neighbourhoods using digital technologies.  We are managing this exciting forum for a group of Local Authorities known as DC10plus.  See www.connectedneighbourhoods.org.uk for more information.

  • The Key which a radical new concept by the Department for Work and Pension's E-Delivery team to showcase private sector innovations across the public sector. We have been working with EDT to set up the centre in Warrington and to support them in its management.  Alongside, we have developed a virtual Innovation Centre in the Second Life environment.  See www.cio.gov.uk/thekey for more information.

  • Green Shift which is a mix of public, private and voluntary sector organisations who all work together under a common programme to maximise the effectiveness of IT in achieving 2020 emissions targets. DEHEMS is one of the first major initiatives to come out of this programme.  Please see www.greenshifteurope.eu for more information.

  • The ONE-Manchester partnership where we are helping Manchester's Digital Development Agency take forward their plans for Manchester to become a leading digital and socially inclusive city.

We work with our clients to transform their business with leading and cutting edge technology.  We are passionate about everything we do and all our work is carried out to the highest of standards.  We have registered PRINCE 2 Practitioners who manage all our projects and our high standards of quality is underpinned by our ISO2001:2008 Accreditation.
