Digital Vale Portal (Penrhyndeudraeth)

The Digital Vale project is a pioneering initiative in North Wales to deliver flat-rate, fast, always-on Internet access to rural areas at an affordable price. Managed by Deudraeth Cyf, a local regeneration company, the project uses wireless network technology to deliver broadband connectivity to homes and businesses in Penrhyndeudraeth and the surrounding area.

With installations already underway, Deudraeth Cyf identified the need for a web portal to provide content and support to network users, as well as to market the service to potential subscribers. In addition to providing content in English and Welsh, the site also had to provide email and be delivered within three weeks of the initial specification.

Working closely with the Deudraeth Cyf team, Clicks and Links developed the portal within the timescales, and www.deudraeth.net was launched on the 12th June. Built with the Roundabout Content Management System, the site provides:

• Dual-language content and web templates - delivered with the Roundabout CMS Remix engine.

• Online Broadband Service Status.
• A free email account, accessible via the web or Outlook/Outlook Express.
• Localised interface to the national Worktrain jobs database allows users to search for local jobs.
• Roundabout CMS allows users to update content quickly, easily, remotely, and without the need for programming skills.
• Online Space Invader game.
