The Brief

The previous AGMA site fell short of the organisations requirements in a number of areas. Although it provided a web presence for AGMA, it was neither high-profile nor high-quality. This meant that it was failing to reach its target public sector audience.

Funding was made available by the Greater Manchester eGovernment Partnership (GMeP) to redevelop and host the AGMA site on their existing APLAWS infrastructure. Clicks and Links Ltd were been engaged to develop the AGMA web site, including the GM Brussels sub-site in April 2005.

The Greater Manchester Brussels office works with AGMA to promote the Greater Manchester area to the EU community policy and research officers, political staff, counterpart organisations and MEPs.

Process

Three areas were identified in need of improvement:

Design and Structure
  • Implementing a more professional look and feel.
  • Improving the consistency and usability of the site.
  • Improving the accessibility of the site.
Content
  • Reviewing and updating the existing content.
  • Adding additional content (e.g. GM Brussels sub-site, Virtual Workgroups marketing material).
  • Increasing the accessibility of the site.
Functionality
  • Search Engine (using to the GMeP Federated Search Engine)
  • Calendar
  • Virtual Workgroups
  • News (using the GMeP RSS Feed Tool)
  • Able to monitor site usage and statistics
Product

The site was built using the APLAWS CMS; allowing the user to quickly and easily update the site. The look and feel of the site has been automated through the use of web templates (Cascading Style Sheets) with a new and fresh looking design.

Clicks and Links are currently in the process of developing the GM Brussels Web Site, due to launch later this year.
