The Design Process
Clicks and Links follow a clear design process to ensure that the final design meets with Client expectations and requirements. Although the degree of iteration will vary by Client agreement from project to project, the core process will remain. The following table sets out this process, and the outputs associated withs it:
Step 1: Initial Design Consultation
An initial design meeting with the Client helps the Design Department to identify the needs of the site and gives the Client the opportunity to shape the look and feel of the site before any work is started. Involving the Client at such an early stage ensures that the Client has ownership and input into the design of their site.
Deliverable: Initial design requirements document
Step 2: First Draft Design
The Design Department produces designs and Release Notes for the site complete with basic site navigation and all accessibility and usability issues considered. This will enable the Client to check whether what has been talked about in the initial meeting is contained in the site design so far.
Deliverable: Initial designs, Release notes
Step 3: Second Design Consultation
The Client reviews the First Stage Designs and passes on comments to the Design Department and Project Manager to amend the site. This is the Clients' opportunity to change any parts of the design that do not meet their expectations, or that they have reconsidered.
Deliverable: Design review comments
Step 4: Second Draft Design
The designs are altered and amended according to the reviews submitted in Step 3. The end of this stage should result in a site design that meets the Clients' approval.
Deliverable: Second draft designs plus release notes
Step 5: Final Client Approval
This is the end of the major design process, as the Client will sign the job off as completed ready for the site to be transferred to Roundabout. Any alterations that the Client feels should be made to the design after this stage must be passed through the Project Manager.
Deliverable: Approved Designs
Step 6: Template Development
The Design Department produces all the templates for the website within Roundabout. When this stage is completed, the site will be ready for the entering of the Clients content. Any alterations that the Client feels should be made to the design at this stage must be passed through the Project Manager.
Deliverable: Roundabout Templates
